IMHO, this is a very old phenomena. Over a millennium ago, Diogenes of Sinope ( c. 412 B.C.; a cynic philosopher in ancient Greece Asked where he came from, he answered: 'I am a citizen of the world.
Global citizenship" means considering yourself a citizen of the whole world, not just your own country, and actively working to make the planet a better place by understanding and respecting different cultures, taking responsibility for global issues, and working towards positive change on a worldwide scale; essentially, seeing yourself as part of a larger human community beyond borders.
I'm exhausted by the "us first" chants, when to me nationalism places governments over people, and most people are already oppressed and or exploited by their governments.
A wonderful summary, thank you for sharing. Totally agree with your points about nationalism and the meaning of global citizenship. We're all passengers on a spaceship called Planet Earth, and national lines don't make sense for taking care of our collective interests -- or representing our collective voice.
Please share more detail on why you don't like the crypto part, I'd love to understand where you're coming from and why. I'm also more sceptical than I am convinced, but I do see clear links between the crypto space and the wider ideas and potential of global citizenship.
Useful to identify how sensitive, influential, and thus important language is when exploring these concepts. 🙂 As a “third culture kid”, former “expat”, and “digital nomad”, I definitely feel sort of perpetually between worlds.
I think the idea of thinking about the future is interesting but would like to point out that a lot of this global native culture is rooted in immigrant culture becoming a norm. A lot of ppl might think of the term immigrant or refugee as signaling what's left behind but I think we probably just don't talk about how they're changing the culture.

Loved the idea (Other than crypto part)
